Back to the Future

2010 -
# Around this time, the Hubbert peak of global oil production predicts widespread disruptions to conventional energy supplies of oil and natural gas. Some academic and business research into hydrocarbon deposits has concluded that the continued usage of this form of energy source will inevitably create widespread reductions in its supply during the 2010s, resulting in a sudden need to switch to alternative energy sources such as nuclear energy and "green" sources such as solar and wind power. Similar predictions about the "end of the age of oil" have been made almost since oil first became a major commodity, and so far no such predictions have borne out. However, Marion Hubbert's 1954 prediction that U.S. oil production would peak in 1970 proved to be accurate, so it is possible that the prediction of the same methodology applied to world oil production may be equally accurate. See also future energy development.

# In the year 2012, conventional CPUs are expected to reach their maximum computing potential, according to Moore's Law. Moore's Law states that roughly every 18 months the computing power of processing units will double. Reaching the maximum potential would have devastating consequences on the technological industry, and possibly the global economy. It is hoped that this could open up the door for true quantum computing development, though this is likely to be advantageous only to certain programming routines.

# Hydrogen vehicles may begin to appear on the streets by 2015. Hybrid vehicles, currently led by GM, Honda, Toyota and Ford, could have a much stronger foothold on the market.

# Generation X (born 1961-1981) is expected to rise in national representation and will most likely reach a majority in the U.S. House and Senate, and may even field its first President this decade (most likely in the 2016 election). Also, most of Generation X will be going through mid-life crisis during this time.

# This is also the time when most of Generation Y (born c.1982-1998) will have fully made the transition to adulthood and the work world, replacing some of the baby boomers lost.

#By 2100, 12% (about 1250) of the bird species existing at the beginning of the 21st century will be extinct or threatened with extinction, according to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, July 4, 2006.

2199 -
#The Matrix, a science fiction cult movie, in which the protagonist Neo discovers that all what he believed was a reality is in fact computer simulation. Morpheus, another character of the movie, identifies the events of the movie as being set in the years around 2199. However, it should be noted that it was mentioned in the film Matrix Reloaded that the movie took place in the 6th incarnation of The Matrix, meaning that the movie actually took place far further in the future than was originally believed.

#Star Trek: Enterprise (2151-2161). The first starship capable of reaching Warp 5 is launched from Earth, leading to unprecedented exploration of space, including first contacts with the Klingons, Andorians, and Romulans. According to this series, an area of Earth stretching from Florida to Venezuela will be devastated by an alien attack in 2153, resulting in the death of 7 million people. Enterprise is decommissioned in 2161, just prior to the establishment of the United Federation of Planets.

#In A.I. (film), a science fiction film that is based on a short story entitled "Super-Toys Last All Summer Long" by Brian Aldiss, the story begins sometime in the 22nd century when androids with very high levels of artificial intelligence (called mechas, short for "mechanisms," i.e. synthetic life) have become commonplace.

why is the future always so good......just your kind of thing na :-))
